The Holy Cross Trip was August 18th, 19th & 20th.
We left out on Thursday night after work. The truck started acting up on the way out of town and we ended up staying at DeDe's house that night and left for camp Friday morning after we fixed the truck. THANKS DEDE AND SHERRI!!!!!
All of Friday it kept raining and then stopped and then started again and then stopped and then started again. Gathering wood wasn't very fun in the rain.

Is Chuck doing the Cutting Firewood Dance or did Kris just make that big log fall on Chuck's foot?
Bill is either doing the Building The Firepit Dance or he just dropped one of those little rocks on his own foot.

We ran the trail on Saturday.

Lunch Break

Last Obstacle - A little too wet and muddy to get up

Coming Down The Creek Crossing

After a day on the trail it was time to go back to camp and play.

Saturday was Kris' birthday so we had a party for him. He got a new hunting video game.
Kris names this "You Can Never Have Enough Chocolate Chocolate Cake." Here's what's in it: Brownie mix and German chocolate cake mix together with about 3/4 bag of chocolate chips. That gives you 2 layers and there's chocolate fudge frosting between the 2 layers with the icing on top with the rest of the chocolate chips on top.

The Buena Vista Trip was June 2nd, 3rd, &4th
We camped above Cottonwood lake and Wheeled Iron Chest & Chinaman's Gulch.

After the Rock Garden we got turned around and took a lunch break.

Everybody made it off the trail. Bill had fuel pump problems and had to change it before we could go. While we were waiting for that Chuck ran to Napa for parts so they could work on rigs at camp for the next day.

Back at camp.
On Saturday the Big Jeep had to make a stop at Napa before we left for the trail because Kris thought the week old trani-mount had broke. Turned out it didn't, there were bigger problems that'd have to wait. (The Buena Vista Napa people were very nice all 3 times our group visited them.)

China Men's Gulch
We added DeDe to our group for the day.

Kaos had tons of fun and took many naps.

Bill going through first obstacle.

Chuck going through the first obstacle with DeDe riding.

The second obstacle at China Men's.
Bill's First

Poor Chuck, not only did he have some trouble on this obstacle, but....

....he had to have his son tow him through the obstacle. Surely Bill won't rub it in too much!

Finally, it's Kris' turn!

Bill called his Mom and asked if she would bring parts for his Dad's Jeep. Wasn't that nice of him? She was nice enough to bring them to Buena Vista, but they ended up not working.

We were on the trail for so long that Kaos needed to go play in the creek for awhile. Watching her in real life is a lot more fun than looking at the pictures. When we were in the part of the creek that was moving pretty fast and she kept loosing the stick I threw to her so she kept trying to bring me those trees you can see laying in the water. She liked the calm part much better.

Fun At Camp
We celebrated our first wedding anniversary on the trip. Here are some pictures from the celebration.

The Year Old Wedding Cake

The cake didn't taste as bad as we thouht it would. WHOA! Is that a picture of Hilary? How did she get on the other side of the camera?
Kaos figured out how to unzip the tent so she could go have coffee with Chuck every morning and went to bed on her own on Saturday night.

This is what camp looked like the morning before we took everything down.

Kaos will pose for a picture as long as she thinks you're going to play fetch with her.

We stopped to go fishing on the creek before we started the trip home.
